Natural Selections
Well last night I was setting up a new bulletin board for our Jerusalem chapter and Jurassic Park came on TV. The remote was on the other side of the room and I wasn’t really paying much attention to it till I took a break. The words natural selection rang in my ears and reminded me of Darwin and many other things that I have thought of
in the past, thoughts of the so called new age movement and how man is improving themselves. How nature always picks the best and strongest things and eliminates what is no longer any good. What a joke to say the least and how all of this fits into last Sundays service at Church. The pastor told us that man is the best of the best and the worst of all, at the same time. And then he proceeded to give us many examples of why this is true today.
Some basic facts
The Garden of Eden
The best of the best was in the beginning, both man and beast, perfect in all ways till the fall! Man sinned and brought death and all that is evil into the world and I don’t think that should be considered natural at all. Lions, tigers, wolves and all of today’s carnivores didn’t eat other animals for their food. So has man improved himself or this world? And of course there was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve as we are seeing more and more on TV. There has been many studies conducted on homosexuality and it has been found that it is learned behavior not natural behavior, but that is not what is being taught to the public and in schools today.
Jesus said the following in Luke 11: 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? To do good things for your children is natural, so shouldn’t we do good things for everyone?
Now just think about what you have seen on TV about Katrina and New Orleans, people crying out for help, right? And we also have seen people desperate for food and water and stealing it from stores because there was none available to them. Then of course we have seen the pictures of people stealing televisions because they needed them to survive, ya right! We have also noticed a great outpouring of donations to these disaster victims from all across our country and other parts of the world (the best and the worst at the same time). Man has made great strides over the centuries in many areas (improvements) but still in many cases knowingly chooses evil over good. So there goes the theory of natural selection for improvement, yes we have cured many diseases and have even gone into space. But we still start wars and kill each other, that hasn’t changed, matter of fact we have gotten a lot worst at it.
It seems today that which was always considered evil, cold blooded murder, is considered to be a good thing, pro-choice. That which was considered just and Biblical, capitol punishment is considered inhumane to the murderer. It is written in Matthew (NLT) 6: 22 "Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul.
23 But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness. If the light you think you have is really darkness, how deep that darkness will be!
24 "No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
25 "So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't life consist of more than food and clothing?
26 Look at the birds. They don't need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are.
27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not.
28 "And why worry about your clothes? Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing,
29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.
30 And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't he more surely care for you? You have so little faith!
31 "So don't worry about having enough food or drink or clothing.
32 Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs,
33 and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.
34 "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.
Bottom Line
If you are a child of the Living God, the natural selection to make is to do good all the time, PERIOD! It is written in Matthew 5: 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
So as a believer, make the natural selection, and do good all the time, Amen?
