Women
This is the last thing I wanted to write about, and the thought wasn’t in my mind at all. It’s funny how we plan on doing something, but God had another idea and at times we do need our hearts and minds refreshed on a subject.
Those of you that know me know I am more than willing to tell jokes about women, especially the dumb blonde jokes. But did God make women for us to joke about? Did God make women below us to serve us and to walk behind us like they do in some cultures? Did God make women so we wouldn’t have to go to Sears and buy dishwashers? Did God make women to be our slaves and servants only? When Mother’s Day roles around on the calendar, what do you do? Tell mom to make you your favorite dinner because it is a Sunday and you’re a man now, and she is a woman, and her job is to serve you. I think not, so what does the Bible have to say about women? Let’s take a good look at the Scriptures.
To set the tone of this study, I’d like to start off with a simple question that you will get wrong!
What name did God call the first two people? I know your answer to this so I’ll write it down for you, Adam, and Eve, right? NO YOUR WRONG!
Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created..- Why did God call their name Adam, because the two of them together is one whole person!
Genesis 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Let’s take a look at Holman’s Bible dictionary. - The Trinity - Theological term used to define God as an undivided unity expressed in the threefold nature of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (The Trinity can be seen many times in Scripture including creation – Like the statement let us make man in our image – Plural) Marriage is the same thing, male and female is one being according to God.
Holman’s Bible Dictionary also has this to say about women - Woman in Bible times lived in a patriarchal society. Both the Old and New Testament worlds normally restricted the role of woman primarily to the sphere of home and family, although a few strong women emerged as leaders. In religious life she was subordinate to man. Father and then husband or other male relatives gave protection and direction to woman. Jesus raised the window for women. He paid attention to them. His manner was inclusive and acknowledged their place in the kingdom He proclaimed. By what He did and what He said He elevated the status of woman. Paul also caught Jesus' vision. Although Paul faced the need to preserve order in the early church, he exclaimed in Galatians 3:28: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." The final barrier preventing woman from fully participating in the kingdom of God toppled under Jesus' influence. Amen!
I was born a Gentile, and I am saved now and according to the New Testament I have only four laws that I must obey. And I have read the important following verse found in Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Now to a few of my feelings – I feel that the Seed and Cornerstone M/M are married, at least spiritually (because we act like we are one flesh). We work very closely together to say the least and on many occasions you see us both together working side by side for the same purpose. Cornerstone and the Sons of God M/C have different patches for their women. The CMA has the same patch for all their members, riders and passengers alike. Does God see any difference? No, and I don’t believe any of the Christian brothers and sisters see a difference either. Am I putting down any of these groups, nope these organizations, as other M/M’s serve the Lord in spreading the Gospel. Today I read our Statement of Faith very well, and I can’t find one place that says a woman can’t be beside me in the Mission field. Under the Statement of Doctrine # 15. Each 'Local Body' (Matthew 18:20) is called to be a community of regenerated (Born-Again) believers, living in fellowship with all other believers within the (Church) One Body of Christ; and will be obedient and subject to His Will, as written in the Scriptures. (Philippians 1:1, Acts 20:28)
All and One body means to me, exactly that! All, with no male or female, period. Some men and some women don’t belong in Motorcycle Ministry work for sure. But if your called by God into it, who am I to stand in your way? I have been told that I have prejudice against women, and I guess I do in some ways. But I am trying to let God correct me and lead me in His perfect ways and to change. Women are a blessing from God to us and have to be treated as first class citizens. I have read in the Word, that a woman is to be silent in Church and her head should be covered. If that happens in your Church, then you can tell me that a qualified Born-Again called female can’t have the same patch as I have. That would work for me, but I would have to turn in my colors, because I believe it would violate our Statement of Faith taken from the Bible.
1 Peter 3:10 7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
